  • Suffolk Dance Days trial programme takes shape

Suffolk Dance Days trial programme takes shape

Following our successful fundraising Literary Luncheon at Hintlesham Hall in October 2025, which raised over £3,000, SEN children are now taking their first steps in a programme of dance, funded by Suffolk Dance Days.

Following a period of planning, the committee have now identified three enthusiastic dance teachers who are able to take the project forward.  A trial programme, being run by two teachers – one teaching and one supporting – is underway at Saint Gregory’s School in Sudbury.  One of the teachers will then teach a regular weekly class there from the next school year. It is hoped that the other soon start work at another local school with a unit for pupils with special needs.

Meanwhile schools closer to the home of the third teacher, in mid-Suffolk, are being contacted with the aim of initiating a third programme.

Offering dance and movement classes over a full school year will cost about £2,000 per teacher, including necessary equipment. The committee must therefore turn its attention to future fundraising events.  In July the hosts of a charity tea party have kindly agreed to donate half the proceeds of the event to Suffolk Dance Days. The committee is also planning a ‘Tutus, Teas and Tiaras’ afternoon tea event, featuring a presentation from Andrew Prince, in October (details to follow)

Now that we are making significant progress with our core objectives, we will be creating a Charitable Trust, to register Suffolk Dance Days with The Charity Commission.

Thank you for your support for Suffolk Dance Days.

  • Our Inaugural Autumn Fundraiser

    Our Inaugural Autumn Fundraiser

Suffolk Dance Days’ first fundraising event was a huge success.

This was a very well-attended literary luncheon, with local Suffolk authors hosting tables, delicious food, and interesting conversation, plus the chance to pick up some reading material.

Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, those unable to attend who made donations in absentia, and the organisations that supported us through donation of time, services, and prizes, we raised over £3,000.

This will enable us to get the building blocks in place for recruiting and training dance teachers and supplying the resources required to offer free dance classes to children in special educational needs (SEN) settings across Suffolk.
